Concerto di Fonterutoli Toscana IGT: a 40-year history
On October 17th we have celebrated the 40th anniversary of Concerto di Fonterutoli Toscana IGT with the Mazzei family. We did so in Milan, with an historical vertical tasting accompanied by the creations of Chef Luca Natalini in his new restaurant Autem. This wine was one of the precursors, and of the first ten protagonists, of the so-called “Super Tuscan” phenomenon, in a decade that marked an historic turning point for viticulture in Tuscany (and in the entire Italian territory). The tasting for the invited journalists was a selection of the best six vintages from 1981 – incredible in the glass – to 2021, available from October and ready to surprise and challenge time with its “music”, exactly like those that preceded it. Today, Concerto di Fonterutoli is not only a classic from “80s” Tuscany, but also a still very current wine. For the Mazzei family “it is a wine-concept, a constant source of emotions, that for us has always been a well of inspiration. This is why we wanted to highlight this symbolic anniversary with a celebratory label.”
In the welcoming and modern main room of the Autem restaurant and its open kitchen, took place a journey between wine and delicacies – with all in-season ingredients produced by artisanal realities – created specifically to enhance the facets and the strong character of this wine that has become legend.
